Change

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Iowa 1:1 Institute, a one day conference focusing on 1:1 programs in schools. The last session I attended was about evaluating a 1:1 program by John Nash (@jnash). One of John's main points was to focus on change and not do. John laid out a nine step process of implementing and evaluating change. I also had the honor of meeting a lot of great Iowa educators including Steve Kwikkel (@Skwikkel).

Steve makes me think, he stirs stuff up, pokes and prods. After the institute Steve and I had a brief exchange on Twitter. He had the idea of having a 'bushwhacking" education event. This got me thinking of education, how it has changed and what changes need to be made. Again, Steve makes me think.

A few weeks ago #moedchat was about change that can reasonably occur in schools. It was a great, realistic conversation. This week I will be moderating #moedchat, again talking about change. This time though I am hoping to push the envelope and discuss change that should happen, setting aside the limitations that schools face on a daily basis. I know this will be pie in the sky thinking but I am hoping that some of the ideas generated will spark an individual or two to push the limits in the classroom or school to work toward the changes that need to be made to benefit students and improve learning.

I would love to hear about changes you would like to see in school, this will help shape #moedchat. Comment and join us for #moedchat Thursday at 9:00 pm (central).
